What is clay modelling?
Modelling with clay (aka industrial plasticine) is a standard process for formfinding used by car producers all over the world. Nowadays those models are in a first step usually created with CAD software (e.g. our DesCAD software). Our machines RA Mill, DT Robot and DT Mill use this computer generated data to mill out those cars from clay or foam. Those physical models are used for evaluation and are manually perfectioned by clay modelers. Also during this step our machines and software are used: to measure characteristic points, draw lines on the surface (scribing) or to scan the manual modelling result and bring it back into the digital process.
